UFC 317 has another change just days before the pay-per-view event.
The promotion announced that Sedriques Dumas is out of his scheduled middleweight matchup with newcomer Jackson McVey for undisclosed reasons. Stepping in will be another undefeated fighter making his UFC debut, Christopher Ewert.
MMA Junkie was first to report the change.
Ewert made his pro debut in December 2022 and in less than three years makes his UFC debut at the promotion’s annual International Fight Week card. The 31-year-old was slated to compete on Dana White’s Contender Series in August, but now looks to improve his record to 8-0. Ewert competed for Fury FC in his past two fights, earning a first-round knockout against AJ Chambers, and a decision victory against Reese Watkins.
McVey has yet to see a second round in his pro career, finishing all six of his opponents in the first round. The 26-year-old has only seen a fight go beyond the two minute mark just one time.
UFC 317 is headlined by a vacant lightweight championship bout between former featherweight champion Ilia Topuria and former 155-pound titleholder Charles Oliveira. In the co-main event, Alexandre Pantoja defends his flyweight title against knockout artist Kai Kara-France.
