The intensity between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford ratcheted up on Sunday after a faceoff turned into a near melee on stage with UFC CEO Dana White doing his best to make sure cooler heads prevailed.
In the second of four scheduled press conferences to promote the upcoming fight in September, Canelo ending up shoving Crawford in the chest after the fighters came nose-to-nose during the staredown. Crawford smiled back at Canelo as security rushed on stage with White staying between the fighters to ensure nothing else happened.
Eventually, the fighters were allowed to come back together to finish the faceoff but White stayed between them this time to prevent any further physical contact. As White intervened, members from the camps attached to Canelo and Crawford were nearly scuffling behind the UFC executive as everybody battled for position on stage.
Once the tension dissipated, White held up the Ring Magazine title on the line when Canelo faces Crawford in what’s expected as the biggest boxing match in 2025.
The fight takes place at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Sept. 13 with the entire event airing live on Netflix at no additional cost to subscribers.
