UFC legend Randy Couture is resting and recovering at home following a serious car crash at a racetrack in Kansas City.
Couture’s representatives confirmed to MMA Fighting on Wednesday that the UFC Hall of Famer was released from a burn center in Las Vegas and is now undergoing outpatient treatments as his recovery continues.
The 62-year-old is still healing from first- and second-degree burns suffered in the accident along with some broken ribs, but he was able to go home after receiving treatment. He is expected to make a full recovery after he had to be airlifted to the hospital following a terrifying car crash that happened while practicing for a race.
TMZ initially reported Couture had been released from the hospital.
Couture had been training to eventually debut in the National Hot Rod Association after expressing his desire to cross over to racing in the past.
“I’ve been a fan of racing for 12, 13 years,” Couture said in a past interview. “From up in the stands it looks really easy—oh they just go fast … it’s so much more involved.”
Recognized as one of the greatest UFC champions in history, Couture sits in rarefied air as one of only a handful of fighters to capture titles in two divisions having held gold at both heavyweight and light heavyweight during his career. He was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame in 2006 and currently serves as one of the lead commentators for the PFL.
