2023 Vintage is The New Old Writer’s Contest Winners Announced

The first edition of ViTNO Writer’s contest ended on June 30. We got to a verdict after some discussions with our judges, Randy Kindig (Floppy Days Podcast) and Kitty (@CommodoreBlog).

All four entries were for the non-technical category and were about something that left a good memory for the writers, which was very nice since, depending on your past experience with retro games or retro computers, you can relate to the stories told by the contestants.

With no further ado, here is the result:

The first place goes to “Pirating Amiga Stuff in the 90’s”, by “Supercruiser”, a past the probably we all can relate to at a certain point where not always acquired games or software in general by legal means.

The second place goes to “BLUE BOMBING : THE FIRST MOMENT I WISHED WOULD NEVER END” by Francis Blais, where the author was really trying to convey what it felt like to get caught up in a game you love.

The third place is 2023 ViTNO Writer’s Contest – Entry #3 – “Only a Game” by Tyson Rek, showing the author’s passion for Super Mario 64 and the fact that he got one as gift, but he didn’t own a console!

Coming not too far behind 2023 ViTNO Writer’s Contest – Entry #4 – “When My Father Took Me to Night Class” by Anthony Albert, which all the judges like a lot, but since it has way less than the “around 1000 words”, it was out of the competition. Nonetheless, it still deserved to be published because is such a nice story I could relate to a lot.

The winners will be contacted so I can send the prizes.

Despite their rank, all the entries show that the community has a lot of amazing stories to tell! Thanks all!
