Sean O’Malley is bringing in all sorts of people to help him prepare for his rematch with Merab Dvalishvili.
Over the past few years, an increasing number of influencers and fans have jumped at the chance to get beaten up by high-level professional MMA fighters. Just last week, Sean Strickland thumped on a YouTuber — something he’s made a habit of — and now “Suga” Sean O’Malley has gotten in on the game, too.
Over the weekend, O’Malley released a video to his YouTube channel, showing him sparring professional poker player and YouTube Frankie C.
In the video, O’Malley notes that first he faced off with Frankie C in a heads up poker match. But, obviously, poker and professional fighting are not the same, and it appears Frankie C got the worst deal, as O’Malley (gently) battered him around the cage, ultimately dropping Frankie C with repeated shots to the body.
Credit to Frankie C, who had no illusions about his ability to compete with O’Malley in a fight, saying he knew O’Malley is very scary but did not believe anything permanent would happen. O’Malley, for his part, seemed to want to leave an impression with Frankie C without actually hurting him.
“I want him to feel like he got hit by a truck,” O’Malley said. “I want to hurt him in the body, I want to kick his leg a couple times. A hard couple leg kicks. I’m going to try and get him really, really tired.”
O’Malley challenges Dvalishvili for the bantamweight title in the main event of UFC 316 which takes place on June 7 at Prudential Center in Newark, NJ.
