ONE Championship will finally unify the heavyweight gold at ONE Friday Fights 22 on Friday, June 23. After a rocky road, ONE Heavyweight World Champion Arjan Bhullar and ONE Interim Heavyweight World Champion Anatoly Malykhin will finally answer the question of who is the top dog at heavyweight.
The first bout between the two was initially scheduled for January 2022, but it never came to fruition. The following month, Malykhin won the interim title and began making his case to be the world’s most dangerous heavyweight athlete.
Last September, an injury forced Bhullar to withdraw from a scheduled unification match, and another bout was rescheduled earlier in 2023 due to broadcaster commitments. But a new date is finally set in stone.
Bhullar became India’s first-ever MMA World Champion after dethroning Brandon Vera in 2021. His wrestling background and heavy hands have earned him an impressive 11-1 record and the sport’s top prize.
However, Malykhin has challenged that notion after going 12-0 to start his career and collecting not only the interim title but the ONE Light Heavyweight World Championship as well. If he can put Bhullar away and close their rivalry in style, Malykhin will leave no doubt about where he stands.
The undisputed ONE Heavyweight World Championship will be bestowed upon one of the two elite heavyweights inside Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok on Friday, June 23. It will be a massive matchup that cannot be missed.
ONE Friday Fights 22 airs live and free across all ONE platforms on Friday, June 23. The event will begin at 8:30 a.m. ET/5:30 a.m. PT.
