One of the all-time greats had big praise for Roberto Soldic. In a recent interview with talkSPORT, Gegard Mousasi shined a light on the ONE Championship star.
The 37-year-old veteran has spent time training with and competing against the biggest names in the sport. Of them all, the Dutchman says that Soldic packs the most punch within his fists.
“The biggest puncher, I will give it to Roberto Soldic. He was the double champion in KSW, and now he’s fighting in ONE Championship,” Mousasi told talkSPORT.
Soldic has used that power to ascend to new heights in his early career.
The Croatian has finished 17 of his 20 professional victories by way of knockout. His string of knockouts led him to become the KSW Welterweight and Middleweight Champion and one of the hottest free agents in the sport. He then moved to the global stage at ONE.
“He went slow with me, but when he hits you, you feel the punch. He’s a naturally gifted heavy puncher. I haven’t seen anybody like that,” Mousasi expressed.
“Even if he doesn’t try to hurt you, he hurts you.”
Although his latest outing in ONE did not go his way, Soldic got to flash some of that power in front of American audiences at ONE Fight Night 10. In the first round of his matchup against former ONE Welterweight World Champion Zebaztian Kadestam, Soldic hammered him on the feet and gave him visible damage.
Mousasi’s praise is notable, given his record against some of the sport’s biggest and best strikers. It speaks volumes about how hard “Robocop” hits and why he is still one of the world’s most dangerous athletes.
Although his ONE tenure has yet to yield gold, Soldic has stepped inside the Circle against the best. The tiny roadblocks will only serve to make him a better competitor, and that will make him even more difficult to contend with in the future.
If Mousasi is correct, expect Soldic to shine upon his return to the global stage in the near future.
