Juan Diaz will remain on UFC 334.
It took a while, but the promotion has finally found a replacement to step in for the injured Adrian Yanez. In his place will be Heili Alateng. The bantamweight bout takes place Nov. 14 at Madison Square Garden in New York.
Both fighters confirmed the booking on social media after an initial report Friday by Heavy.
Peru’s Diaz (16-1-1 MMA, 1-0 UFC) has won nine fights in a row coming into his biggest matchup to date. He dazzled with a thrilling spinning back elbow knockout of Won Il Kwon on Dana White’s Contender Series in October 2025 and then followed it up with a rear-naked choke submission of Malcolm Wellmaker in his UFC debut in May.
Alateng (18-10-2 MMA, 6-3-1 UFC) most recently competed in September when he defeated John Castaneda by unanimous decision. The win moved him to 2-2 in his most recent four, a stretch during which he alternated losses and wins.
The updated UFC 334 fight card includes:
- Champion Ciryl Gane vs. Josh Hokit – for heavyweight title
- Champion Kayla Harrison vs. Amanda Nunes – for women’s bantamweight title
