Survival is step one. We’re step two.

Armed Attorneys Leslie Cross and Edwin Walker break down the BREAKING NEWS we’ve all been waiting for! The ATF has officially released new guidance on suppressors, short-barreled rifles (SBRs), short-barreled shotguns (SBSs), and other weapons covered by the National Firearms Act (NFA).

Effective October 9, 2026, the ATF announced it will no longer enforce certain NFA registration, tax stamp, and prior approval requirements for these firearms and devices nationwide—not just for the plaintiffs involved in the Silencer Shop Foundation lawsuit.

But does this mean you can finally purchase a suppressor or SBR without a Form 4? Can you build your own short-barreled rifle without filing a Form 1? And what happens if a future administration reverses this guidance?

Leslie and Edwin explain what changed, why federal background checks and Form 4473 still matter, how state laws affect gun owners, and why you should think carefully before removing an existing NFA item from the federal registry.

They also discuss interstate travel requirements, voluntary NFA registration, and the legal risks that could arise if the ATF changes its enforcement policies in the future.
